Concert orchestra the Ereprijs
July 2
July 2
On Sunday, July 2, you can visit the museum for a special concert by orchestra De Ereprijs. The musical piece "Fernorchester" was written especially for Stedelijk Museum Breda by composer Wilbert Bulsink, and it ties in with the current exhibition Ruud van Empel - Arcadia and the new permanent exhibition Ambition & Desire - Breda in the 19th century.
Fourteen musicians will perform the piece of music. Composer Wilbert Bulsink himself explains his work, in which he plays with concepts such as far away and near. The piece will be played twice: in the auditorium and in various museum spaces where visitors walk around.
Orchestra De Ereprijs is visiting the museum as part of its brand new program Re-Generation: Museum Tour. Commissioned by De Ereprijs, composers Corrie van Binsbergen, Wilbert Bulsink, Pete Harden, Vanessa Lann, Klas Torstensson and Klaas de Vries have worked on new compositions based on characteristic museum pieces, histories and/or city stories.
During each museum concert, all pieces will be performed and the corresponding piece will be highlighted.
Besides Stedelijk Museum Breda, the following museums participate: Museum Arnhem, Verwey Museum Haarlem, Kröller-Müller Museum, CODA Museum and Kasteel Huis Bergh. The new compositions are inspired by the entire museum, a museum piece, or the history of the city where it is located. By doing so, the musical pieces can reflect, comment or offer a different perspective; a kind of musical audience mediation. A composition of about six minutes is thus created for each museum.
De Ereprijs wants to bridge cultural differences and make connections between generations. With the Museum Tour, the company seeks out audiences in an environment where contemporary music is not often found.
There is limited space in the auditorium.
Reservations are not possible, so be on time because full = full.
