Welcome to Breda, Nassau city. Make your museum visit part of a full day out and explore everything the city has to offer!
The traces of the Nassaus are visible in many places in Breda. In The Nassaus van Breda, the permanent exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Breda, their story comes to life. The 15th-century Grote Kerk also breathes this history: nine Nassaus and the first Prince of Orange found their final resting place there. Today, the Grote Kerk is a House of Stories, where an innovative program connects the past and the present. Breda Castle, once home to William of Orange, is now a military academy. The Begijnhof, an oasis of peace in the heart of the city, has traditionally been known to have survived thanks to the special protection of the Nassaus.
Stedelijk Museum Breda is located on Boschstraat, one of the oldest streets in the city center. Boschstraat is a lively street with various shops and dining options. From a fresh cup of coffee at Kamu to homemade beer at De Beyerd and a good glass of wine at Dames Pellens – you'll find plenty of places to relax. In addition, you'll find well-known Breda shops such as Schietecat Tweewielers, Bliek, and of course the Fop-Sjop.
