In this exhibition we present portraits of nine Breda newcomers that show how they would like to see themselves in five years. The images were taken by nine young photographers from the region and the process itself is also portrayed.
The Talitha Arise Foundation encourages migrants and status holders to take matters into their own hands and to change their lives in positive ways. How? By showing that it can be done!
Diana J. Banks, initiator of Talitha Arise, was assisting status holders in finding work on behalf of the municipality of Breda. What she then noticed was that newcomers don’t have role models – people who inspire them and whom they can model themselves after. She decided to create a network for them. The network has now expanded considerably, and the Talitha Arise Foundation is working together with the Take Care TV Foundation on a programme that encompasses a documentary series, a photo exhibition and a number of glossy magazines on themes that are important for the integration process.

On Sunday, 18 November, you are welcome to the Gesprekkenreeks Nieuw Brabant (New Brabant Conversation Series), where cultural initiators, politicians and status holders enter into conversation with each other. This will take place in project rspace NEXT from 3 to 5 pm, and admission is free.
